My mother in law received compassionate and thorough care from Dr Estephan. He fully respected her religious beliefs for treatment choices and made sure we understood the progression of the disease. It was terminal either way but he always treated her and the family with kindness and respect.
Now my mother has cancer again after 11 yrs and both times we have found him to be the same way: kind, encouraging and knowledgeable. I’m sorry others have had negative experiences but our three separate encounters have been nothing but positive.

My dad went to Dr. Estephan for a form a cancer with no cure. The only option was treatment to suppress as long as possible. When my dad finally had to go to icu, the attending doctors continuously had issues getting a hold of this guy. Additionally, he never once came to the hospital to see my dad or even show an ounce of compassion. It makes a world of difference to the patient and family to see their doctor show any interest. This doctor does not do that.

During a recent appointment for a friend who I am the medical power of attorney for, Dr. Estephan asked me to take time to review him. He was frustrated by some of the negative reviews he received on here....and I can understand why.

Reviews stating that he is unkind or rude or a quack or a medical hack or that he is shaming people in a way that not even a dog should be shamed....those reviews are NOT true. As to whether he is withholding care from people whether that be surgery or pain management, I can't imagine a circumstance under which he would act as these people has described.

I have found Dr. Estephan to be nothing but kind, compassionate, thorough, understanding and holds an excellence of care that I can think of few doctors who could match him. He listens to patients with great care and dedication, making sure they understand the intricacies of their cancer and the treatment options available. I have asked many questions over the course of the five or more years my friend and I have seen him together. In fact, in appointments he goes to extreme lengths to make sure that each patient understands what he's doing, why he's doing it, what to expect from it AND what he will do if it doesn't work.

Cancer sucks. I can think of nothing worse than getting a cancer diagnosis. I've seen my friend go through horrible things but that is nothing that Dr. Estephan had control over. In fact, I can tell you that, with no doubt in my mind, without Dr. Estephan and his exemplary handling of her care, it would have been far worse. She will still pass from cancer because her cancer is terminal...but she will have lived many years beyond what would have been expected because of Dr. Estephan.

And for the review that said he was denying palliative care or hospice care.... that is absolutely ludicrous. From early on in my friend's care, Dr. Estephan was quite clear that when the time came and my friend arrived at point where she needed assistance or wanted to stop fighting and be comfortable while cancer took her that he would connect her with those resources.

If you can't tell, I think the negative reviews are nonsense. Dr. Estephan is a wonderful doctor, a caring human and anyone would be lucky to have him care for them in a very difficult time.

Dr Estephan was kind, compassionate, and informative when caring for my 80 yr old mother with colon cancer. The time that he spent in the room during an office visit was maybe not all that long but like I said earlier he was informative. He took the time to answer my questions. One visit he looked at me and asked, "Denise, how are you doing?" That meant a lot to me. Thank you Dr Estephan.

My brother is receiving care here. He is in excruciating pain from bone cancer. We asked him about supportive pain management or palliative care and Dr. Estephan said that it isn’t available in Kansas. That was an outright lie. My brother remained in excruciating pain for months. He couldn’t eat, walk, care for himself or shower. He was so broken that he wanted to die. When we called hospice on Friday they said we could indeed get pain management care for him while he receives chemotherapy too and he met with hospice the following day. My brother endured horrific pain for months because Dr. Estephan didn’t want to complete the necessary paperwork for him to get pain relief. This doctor showed no compassion when we asked if there was anything he could do to alleviate the pain. He said “chemo” over his shoulder as he walked out of the room. What kind of a monster would treat another human being like this. We would shame any human being for treating a dog this way. Dr. Estephan has sworn to “do no harm”. We would all be wise to consider the harm inflicted on a patient when Dr. Estephan
refused to provide appropriate pain relief. Take heed.

Dr estaphan treated me for prostate cancer about 12 years ago. During that time he noticed there was a mass in my lung which he said was slow-growing prostate metastasis and not to worry about it. shortly thereafter i moved to Florida and when my new prostate doctor saw the lung X-ray he told me I had lung cancer and needed emergency surgery. I had the tumor removed but it was too late it already metastasized. It has been a tougtime since

Knowing that I needed a surgery for my shoulder that greatly affected my ability to work, he did not allow it. Also he told the state when I filed for disability that nothing was stopping me from working and that I was fully capable of hard labor even though I was sick with lymphoma and was needing shoulder surgery on my dominate side. Based on my experience, he is not helpful and is careless.

Dr. Estaphan treated me for stage 2 breast cancer. He was compassionate and treated me with concern and respect. I was never treated as a number. I appreciate everything that he and his team did for me.
